Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has urged the Imams of the city and Howrah to appeal for communal harmony and peace through the special namaz tomorrow. Miss Banerjee held a meeting with the Imams of various mosques at Writers’ Buildings this evening. She told them that already an FIR had been filed against those who had created trouble on Tuesday and action would be taken against them. She also condemned the incident. The Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque said they had demanded an apology for “hurting their religious sentiments” and peace and communal harmony should be maintained. Meanwhile, the police and the sleuths of the Criminal Investigation Department are going to inquire against transmitting of SMSes and MMSes with indecent photographs for hurting the religious sentiments. The CM said it is a conspiracy by a group of people who are trying to destroy communal harmony.
